Floriculture Education for School

Directorate General of Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Products, Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with Taman Buah Mekarsari and Indonesian Flower Association (ASBINDO) held an education for students about flowers (plants), fruits, and vegetables as a part of September Horti Ceria 2012 event. The activuty that undertaken during September was trying to introduce the kinds of plants, fruits, and vegetables as well as the benefits and functions. The event aims to increase fruit and vegetable consumption and appreciate the local environment is implemented in 6 (six) schools that consist of elementary, junior high, and high schools around Jakarta.

ASBINDO team educated about plant functions and benefits, as well as bringing some species of plants and floriculture products. Some of the students don’t know about the name of floriculture products (cut flower, cut foliages, potted plant, bedding plant). With interactive method and the appearance of images of plants and flowers visually, the students seemed excited to see the types of floriculture products carried.

The event also stimulate the students to express creativity in floral and vegetables design. Some games are also conducted to ensure that the students stay motivated to follow the event 'till drop.

Not only participate in this event, ASBINDO also provide a similar education for elementary, junior, or high school.
