Description
Orchids are the largest family of the plant kingdom with over 25,000 naturally occurring species in the world, as well as all the specially-developed hybrids! Most houseplant orchids are either Phalaenopsis , dendrobium, vanda, paphiopedilum or cymbidium. It is currently believed to be the second largest family of flowering plants, with between 21,950 and 26,049 currently accepted species, found in 880 genera. Horticulturists are believed to have produced more than 100,000 hybrids and cultivars.
Care tips
Orchid flowers last over a month on the plant and about 10 days when cut. Place them in a well lit spot out of direct sunlight. Water sparingly once a week or immerse the rootball in (softened) water. Feed with orchid plant food once a month. They like regular misting to the leaves.
