Fungicide Management in Floricultural Production
Almost all of us who manage floricultural production already understand the general principles of managing plant diseases using fungicides. This paper only tries to remind and dig back, as well as open a discussion about the practice of fungicide application in production areas. Several topics have been material in training organized by ASBINDO in collaboration with plant protection principals in Indonesia.
The rainy season has been 3-4 this year, in terms of duration, which is quite extreme compared to the general climate pattern. This means that potentially the risk of disease attack on floricultural production will increase. We remember that pest/plant disease problems are the result of the interaction of the following factors:
- Pathogen
- Host
- Environment
This means that knowledge of each of these factors is the first step in managing fungicide application for plants. The first is the identification of plant disease types. The goal is to choose the right fungicide according to the type of disease. Is it caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses or something else. There are currently visual identification aids available on various websites. And if you still have doubts (various visual symptoms may be caused by different pathogens), samples can be sent to the pest and disease department laboratory at the nearest university.
