ASBINDO Visit to Tomohon

In order to improve working relations and strengthen friendship between ASBINDO and its members, on 9 - 13 August 2023 the General Chair, Hesti Widayani together with the ASBINDO Management and members, namely Damayani Sabini, Harto Kolopaking, Sri Wahyuni ​​and Loula Umboh, visited Tomohon to meet with Gapoktan ASBINDO Tomohon also attended the Tomohon International Flower Festival 2023 (TIFF 2023).

In TIFF activities, Hesti Widayani together with Karen Tambayong and Caroline Betsy Diana Pakasi were the TOF Judges who were tasked with assessing 28 flower-decorated vehicles or floats (9 small floats and 19 large floats) made by Tomohon City decorators which were displayed in the float parade . The General Chairperson of ASBINDO is very proud and welcomes the collaboration and involvement of ASBINDO Tomohon Gapoktan members in TIFF 2023, who are not only providers of cut chrysanthemum flowers and other fresh materials, but also as float makers in this national activity, and hope that in the future, Gapoktan member farmers can producing more types or variations of flowers and other supporting materials, such as leaves. Creativity and innovation are one of the demands to make floriculture products (cut flowers, cut leaves, twigs, roots and other plant parts, etc.) more attractive, so that other benefits from floriculture products can be felt more, not only aesthetic benefits, but more broadly, it covers social, cultural and economic aspects that can drive the regional economy. 

ASBINDO's role as a government partner in supporting the development of the Indonesian Floriculture industry, really hopes for better and closer cooperation between ASBINDO and the Tomohon City Government.

The Wonderfull Flora of The Archipelago

Semarak Flora Nusantara colors the Main Lobby area of ​​Atrium 1, Ground Floor of Lippo Mall Puri, Kembangan Jakarta from 1 to 3 September 2023. Semarak Flora Nusantara is an ASBINDO exhibition held in order to introduce and promote various Indonesian floriculture products with the aim of increasing public awareness and love, especially floriculture plant lovers. The ASBINDO booth decorator team at the Semarak Flora Nusantara exhibition was chaired by Mrs. Sara Destariansyah as owner of the Jakarta Floral Academy (Jakflo) and assisted by Mrs. Sri Sulastri as Leader and Instructor of the Flower Arranging Art Course and Training Institute - LKP Chichi Cianjur.

The products displayed are quite diverse, ranging from cut flowers such as chrysanthemums, roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers, anthuriums, lilies, etc. Cut leaves consist of monstera, philodendron, alocasia, cypress, kadaka and fern. Potted ornamental plants were also displayed, such as marigolds, poinsettias, vinca, kalandiva, celosia, begonias, moon orchids, dendrobium orchids and creations made from coconut leaves. Semarak Flora Nusantara received an enthusiastic welcome from the mall visitors who came, they not only saw various types of beautiful flowers and plants on display, but also many took fun photos at the ASBINDO photobooth.

This exhibition will be an annual activity held by ASBINDO. By holding this exhibition, it is hoped that it can become a forum for promoting the diversity of Indonesian flowers to the general public as well as a gathering place for the community of flower, leaf and plant lovers and as a means of sharing knowledge with the community, mall visitors and the wider public.

Preparation for Tomohon International Flower Festival August 8-12 2023

The city of Tomohon is the only city in Indonesia that is holding a Tournament of Flowers, namely the International Flower Festival in the form of an international Float Float Competition, with participants from all over the archipelago and foreign countries. Through this activity: With Flowers, Tomohon City Greets the World. The birth of Tomohon City as the City of Flowers and as the organizer of the International Flower Festival, was designed by the first Mayor of Tomohon namely Jefferson M. Rumajar, SE and the Indonesian Flower Association (ASBINDO) driven by Mrs. Karen Tambayong and her staff on August 8 2008 In the same year the ASBINDO Tomohon City. At that time, almost all farmers in Tomohon City planted various kinds of cut flowers such as the native chrysanthemum flowers of Tomohon, namely the Kulo chrysanthemums (standard white chrysanthemums) and Riri chrysanthemums (standard yellow chrysanthemums), both of which were quite large, as big as drinking plates. coffee. In addition, spray chrysanthemums (also known as aster chrysanthemums) of various colors, kerk lilies, daisies of various colors, peacock flowers (white, purple, pink, blue) gladiolus with various colors, hen crowns and marigolds are also planted.

This year, preparations for holding the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) have been started by the Tomohon city government, through the Tomohon Agriculture & Fisheries Service, at the end of April asking the flower growers gathered in the Tomohon City ASBINDO container to plant standard chrysanthemum and spray chrysanthemums of various colors, kerk lilies, daisies, peacocks, gladiolus, roses, hydrangaeas, and other flowers that will be used to decorate and decorate all the floats (FLOAT) participating in the Tournament of Flower (Fresh Flower Float Competition) at the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) on 8 - 12 August 2023.
